My two boys, ages 9 and 12 have both deemed the Benotripia series as their favorite fantasy of all times. My 12 year old loves how they all have memories of how their friendship began and how Rosabella has a tower of books. My 9 year old says this book is even more thrilling than the first! There is so much discovery in this book!
I'm use to reading mature author writings so I can see a difference. This book was certainly impressive for a twelve year old author and with further training her fanciful storyline will have more in depth descriptive flourish. That said, I would consider this to be a solid good book for elementary kids. Its adventures were appropriately imaginative for said age group. The writing was simple and easy to follow. The character personalities that Miss Wagner created complimented each other and the theme of the story. The names however took a bit of getting use to for ME ..too odd to my reading head (call me picky). Overall, this is a series I wouldn't mind my young children reading. I can imagine that they might find it incredible because it spoke their language level and inline with their vision. This mama may just be too old and have misplaced her kid mojo. ;)

I liked the Stones Of Horsh. Since my memory is so terrible these days I reread Benotripia the Rescue. It still holds up years later. I am looking forward to reading Benotripia Keys to the Dream World next.
McKenzie Wagner is impressive when she first wrote Benotripia she was not even a teenager. She writes exciting adventures for her heroes. The characters are interesting and likeable. You are rooting for them. It is fast paced. Read it in one sitting.
Roseabelle has many powers. Her mother is the leader of Benotripia. Someday she will be in power. She already feels the responsibility of it. She can draw something and it will turn out real. She even drew a animals that don't exist and they were real.
Jessicana, Is a healer and can turn into a parrot.
Astro can shoot lighting out of his fingers.
Benotripia's enemy are sighted by Astro and Jessicana. Their parents are away to help the people in the North who are having problems.
They find out they are going for mystical stones that have power. So the three children decide to beat them to the stones.
Their are some interesting creatures in the story. Easy to believe it.

My son loved the first book and was ecstatic to hear of this new book coming out. Once he got it... He read it quicker than any other book and loved every minute. It is one of his very favorites and is actually one he wants to read again and again.
Love to follow this young author's progress..especially with her Benotripia series...her writing is improving with age! these are well written stories, appealing to the pre-teen and early teen audience. Keep it up McKenzie!
This author came to our school and my 4th graders have enjoyed this book. She has inspired my students to become authors as well.
