This book had me hooked from the opening scene, in which its lawyer protagonist faces the possible dismissal of the biggest case of his life. This is a great story, vividly told. But more than that it feels, to me as an attorney, authentic: this is how lawyers act and how courtrooms operate. I highly recommend "The Target Defendant" as both an engrossing read and an eye-opening education, for those who are not themselves participants in the American legal system, about how things really work inside that arcane world.Product details

Professor Crump has developed a writing skill as a great story teller and captures the readers interest quickly and makes it hard to put down. You might end up staying awake late at night reading this because you want to see how it is all going to play-out. Another winner by David Crump.
A quick read that's worth the time. An interesting look into the underbelly of crime with believable characters. Very entertaining!
As a lawyer and writer myself, I find it important to tell a story but also to do more. Crump spins a great story and at the same time exposes the real world of drug cartels who could not stay in business without those who are willing to launder their money. Great read.
I enjoy reading novels about our legal process. Crump's has a style that will not let the reader turn loose, taking us into the courtroom after setting the stage of the crime, the strategy and counter points. Crumps takes typical news events, does the research and brings a drama to real life for the reader. I rate it five stars because I liked the story, I liked how it was written and how the facts and timing were revealed. Good entertainment!!!
It shows lawyers doing what lawyers really do. It also shows legal procedure the way it really is. After you read this you will see that John Grisham's novels are not on par - this is the real deal, wrapped up in a riveting read.
